Abraham Lincoln

Lincoln’s hands were longer than normal and that his fingers were longer than normal. Lincoln used an axe more or less all day every day from the time he was about 8 years old until he was 23. He spent a lifetime using his hands to better our country, the USA. Lincoln used his hands to save the Union by freeing the slaves. Lincoln’s hands endorsed the 13TH Amendment to the Constitution abolishing slavery throughout the United States in 1864. He used his hands to write down the Gettysburg Address.

Nana

Mary Marjorie Reim was born in 1923 and passed away in 2009. As child she lived in both CT and VT and then lived most of her life Palmer, MA. In high school she fell in love with Francis Reim…she worked hard and had a career at a factory in Palmer, MA, while she waited for true love to come home from World War II and for him to get educated. She waited 8 years…she was committed to him and spent his entire lifetime married to him. She raised 4 children. Her hands represent a strong woman. When I met her, right before I married her youngest son, she told me what her mission in life was…to be a good wife and mother. She was full of life and wisdom. She embraced the two grandchildren that were born 17 years later than her 7 older grandchildren. She embraced her great grand children, at the same time as well. Nana was always concerned for the well-being of her husband, children, the generations that followed and those before her, as well as her friends. Her hands show committment and concern for the safety of those she loved.
Jesus of Nazareth

These are the hands that have lasted for all time. They never signed a bill into law like a president, they never cleaned a house or made a meal for a family – but they touched and healed the sick, set tormented spirits free and healed the blind and raised Lazarus from death. They are the most important hands of all time and they where on a cross to set us free.
